As you all know, since last year, traffic lights system have been readjusted whereby it really confuses drivers 1. When traffic light turns green, we used to turn right as long as there’s no incoming traffic from the opposite side of the road. Nowadays, we cannot turn right until our traffic light turns red completely, then a final few seconds for cars to turn right only resulting in a long jam as many are only One single right lane for cars turning right. 2. Why we must have cars going straight and also for cars turning right just for a few seconds, and then finally an only right turn for cars once the traffic lights turned red ? It’s so frustrating for cars on the other side of the road as they cannot moved as the first few seconds are specially for opposite direction cars to turn right. 3. Finally, there are still traffic junctions whereby once the light turns green, there is no red arrow appearing indicating that cars cannot turn to the right. Don’t understand which smart alec changed and got it approved that really slows down all the cars movement in Singapore. For us in the private sector, time is money but doesn’t seem so for those in the government sector… haiz If one were to say it’s due to the higher accident rate, my suggestion is to penalize the offenders heavily instead of giving burdens to drivers like us. I fetch my son to school daily at 0700 am, Toa Payoh ( Kheng Cheng school ) and because of the new stupid system implemented, we sometimes need to wait for 3 traffic light changes in order to turn right and it’s just a minor road. Even our MP Mr. Chee Hong Tat concurred to my suggestions of reverting it to the old system whereby cars could turn right once the green light shows up, wrote to LTA on behalf of my suggestions but didn’t go through., what the heck ! |
According to LTA: For pedestrians, the green man means they can cross the road. for some impatient drivers. they may still attempt to make a turn even when pedestrians have the right of way. The RAG (red, amber, green) arrows put a stop to that. Motorists must walt for the green arrow to appear before making the right turn. This separates the time for drivers making a right turn and pedestrians crossing the road. In short, RAG arrows point the way to roads that provide a safer experience for both pedestrians and motorists.
